| new city, new blog
bye chicago. i miss you.
| I'm such a bad little blogster.... I know I've been totally M.I.A. for a month or so now, but the computer situation is still sad, so me and the interweb have lost touch a bit. Hopefully, I'll be buying my new computer THIS WEEK *squeals*
I feel compelled to share my big news with all my interweb friends, seeing as you all had to sit through my fretting about grad school apps for so very long. Well, I DID get into grad school, and I DID get quite a bit of money thrown at me to go to Syracuse. While I am not thrilled about the prospect of a year living in upstate NY, I would be a major douchebag to turn down semi-free school. Plus, it's only for a year, then I can be a 22 year old with a masters who's unemployed, which is SO much more impressive than a 21 year old with a BA that's unemployed.
So yes, come July 1st yours truly will be leaving the Windy City. I am having a huge party the last weekend in May, so mark your calendars now.
Other events/musings of the past month or so:
-still yearbooking. a lot. still a big nerd. -still drinking. a lot. still a big lush. -being semi-stalked by a 7'2" guy. Luckily, I can see him coming from far away, so it's easy to hide. -Crystal is working at Ruby's with me, which is hilarious. -I've lost all interest in schoolwork upon discovering that I'll graduate summa cum laude regardless of my grades this semester. HAH! -I'm really quite sad at the prospect of leaving all my friends in 2 months. Trying not to think about it. -Several "lasts" been going on in AXO-world. Paid my last dues (YES!) attended my last formal, last mixer is coming up. Feeling slightly nostalgic. slightly. -I'm really quite destitute right now. Looking forward to graduation money. Donations can be dropped off at my apt, or accepted online via paypal (user ID: Genesis_9183). I'm not kidding, pay up.
OK, time to nap before going out tonight. Later kids! -
| No, I'm not dead. But my computer is, which is why I haven't been posting. But next weekend I'm going down to the apple store to purchase this beautiful slice of silicon. Mmmm baby *humps computer screen* Once I get done making love to my sexy new computer, I should get around to filling in all you lovers out there on the interweb as to what's been going on in the crazy land-o-gena in the past few weeks (heres a hint: unicorns, jaegerbombs and mechanical bulls, oh my!). kissyface! | | |
| This picture makes me giggle. Game night was so much fun... it's been a really long time since I've had so much alpha chi-related fun, which is kinda sad. Here are some more random-ass game night pictures... it's funny to note that in ALL of these pictures I am acting like an idiot... further proof that I CAN NOT take a normal picture.... Ah well, photogenic or not, I do manage to have fun, right?
Tonight was full of weird/random conversations. Among them:
-Talked with very best friend. Verdict: awesome. She's coming to visit this weekend and all will be rocking. -Talked with old (ex) best friend. Verdict: bad. He never wants to talk to me again, because I'm mean. Fuck that shit, I'm a goddamn sweetiepants. -Talked with awesome high school friend. Verdict: funny. Like watching (reading) my very own personal sitcom in the IM window. -Talked with another awesome high school friend. Verdict: good. Meeting him for lunch in MI in two weeks. -Talked with roomie whilst sitting on hardwood floor. Verdict: therapeutic, though mildly uncomfortable (bruised coccyx?).
All in all this has been a very nostalgic weekend. Come to think of it, last weekend was nostalgic and next weekend will most likely be as well. Excuse me, can I live in the present anytime soon?? But it was fun, I hung out with one of my old friends from high school that I'd lost touch with, and it was one of those 'holy shit, why did we stop talking, oh yeah it's because we were surrounded by venemous thugs disguised as friends who turned us against one another, sure am glad we're over that' kinda things.
Oh, I'm just so excited about Karin coming to visit I could squirt. Also, spring break is in two weeks. On the agenda: trip to UofI, trip to ISU, trip to Wisconsin, trip to Canton. It may not be glamorous, but it's gonna be fun. I'm already working on assembling a "roadtrippin" playlist. Any suggestions are welcome.
I just found half a cookie! And it's still soft! All is right in the world.

| Hooray! I refound one of my very favorite websites: True Porn Clerk Stories. Fabulous.
This weekend was... unusual. My mom came to visit, which was nice, 'cause I have a very cool mama. Also, she cooked for me and folded some of my laundry (two tasks, I may point out, she never did while I was living at home). On Friday I took her out for martinis and then to Hamilton's, which was humorous. Especially when she was hugging random people she'd never met before and telling me and crystal about going to bowling class stoned out of her gourd back in the 60's. Like I said, cool mama.
On Saturday I went out with Crystal and Brockie to see Corey's band, which was fun, despite the yelling over the noise thing (note to self, don't go to bars to catch up with old friends). Also, there was a little weirdness at the end of the night, which culminated in my friends yelling and jabbing fingers and threatening at someone who, while not my favorite person, probably didn't deserve QUITE all that. (Don't be fooled by her short stature and fabulous faux pearl necklace, Melissa Brockie can be one of the scariest sights on earth when she's all on tiptoes up in your face.) Ah well, it still felt nice to see my friends get so worked up for my sake... *feels loved*
Sunday I discovered that I can pick up a plastic cup with my teeth without my hands or knees touching the ground. Try to do this, then you will see why I am so proud of this discovery. My thighs however, are still smarting somewhat from the experience.
And Monday was Valentine's Day (or VD as the cool kids are calling it). In general, I don't have a problem with the holiday... not really my cup of tea, but I don't get all bent out of shape like some people do. However, working a double at Ruby Tuesday on VD is enough to make anyone want to knife their face. Think about it: it's the one day of the year where EVERYONE goes out to eat, including all the people who NEVER go out to eat and have no idea how to behave in a restaurant. Compound that with the fact that the caliber of people who choose to go to RUBY TUESDAY for Valentine's day generally don't have the most generous tipping tendencies. All in all it was a pretty shatty night, but I still made more money than I would've made sitting on my ass at home. Plus, there were cupcakes. It's amazing what a cupcake will do for my morale.
(still, it would've been nice to get a card or something...)
So I had a late valentine's dinner with the roomies and we exchanged paddles we made for one another, because we're dorks who like to play with glitter and mod podge. They're hanging on the wall and dripping glitter on the floor, and mine says "I don't walk around gangsta all day... no, only when it's called for", and this makes me giggle, especially when I read it aloud, 'cause I sound ridiculous saying "gangsta". (It says other things too, this is just the most giggle-inducing).
And today it rained and I felt tired a lot, and I stared at the carpet patterns in Dumbach for hours on end (did you know there are thousands of faces hiding in the carpet there? One minute there's an old polish babushka lady, the next there's a little boy screaming, the next there's a craggily old fisherman... and then when you try to find them again they're gone, back under the carpet). And then I went downtown to listen to punk music in a room next door to a bunch of accounting majors who I'm sure are very confused as to what's going on every Tuesday night. And then is was now and I had a bunch of books to read, but not really fun books, so instead I wrote a Xanga post that a bunch of people will read anonymously and never talk about. Such a weird little medium... hmph. Ah well. I'm going to go make a tuna sammich, not a sandwich but a sammich, 'cause sandwiches are saran wrapped and held in coolers in cafes and have things like sundried tomatoes and fresh basil in them, while sammiches are cut on the diagonal with no crusts and fingertip smushes on them and eaten with both hands, and that's what I want right now.
